This is going to be a great start to the season in Licking County. This game is at Utica so the redskins get home court advantage. With Body not playing for Heath, I anticipate Utica will take advantage inside with Lugar and Londot cleaning up the boards. If Utica can contain White to under 20 pts. I don't see any reason the Redskins can't pull off the win to start the season.
Any thoughts to this game?

Should be a great game. Both teams like to get up and down and neither really has that much depth so who's still on their feet late will probably win!

Excellent point BD - Early season conditioning will show up in this game. The last one standing may hold the key to victory. Any other thoughts from anyone?

Quick and simple prediction...White will easily have more than 20 and the Dogs will still win even with youthful troops this year as they have some sophomore talent to add to the junior and senior class...the younger Croom has great potential and Mitchell is playing huge inside. Heath with the W for 100 Alex!

Go Dogs ! ! !

Not that I care-I just want to go against NC fan because he hates Heath so much.

Taia Croom will be nice fill as very athletic and aggressive for a frosh...after that, they have a taller Larue that may help inside with boards but still developing. Check back at mid-season. Dogs won easy 7-40 over j-town but competition was weak except for one guard.

While I agree the key to Utica's success tomorrow will rely on containing White to 20 or less, The key to a victory for Heath will be to handle utica's pace and pressure defense. Has Heath even had a decent scrimmage yet against anyone? I can tell you that Utica played an excellent scrimmage this week against a very good Mount Vernon team and led this game to whole way only to lose the game down the stetch in the last 7 minutes and only because of Utica's lack of getting balls to drop. This will be an excellent and very tough game by both teams, the team that makes the fewest turnovers and makes their shots off the foul line wins this game.

heath have a decent scrimmage? hey! lol

it's always hard to tell what a team got from a scrimmage of any sorts

but I disagree about Heath's key being handling the pace or pressure defense of Utica being the key

Odds are that like last year Utica will want the game to be in low 50s at the highest and will try their best to keep Heath from running up and down the floor... the more you do that the easier it is to lose sight of White and she ends up with 40... Ball handling isn't an issue for Heath... forcing Heath to play a half court game and forcing others to take shots from the perimiter while controlling the boards is the key to facing Heath... and what Utica was able to do last year... particuarly given your description of the Utica/Mt Vernon game... sounds like Utica ran out of gas...

Higher scoring and faster pace benifits Heath IMHO...
Lower scoring benifits Utica...

either team can win... should be a great opener as there are major questions for both schools even as both expect solid seasons.

If you would have told me that Megan White will put up 42 points against Utica and Heath would still not win, I would say your crazy, but that is exactly what happened. The Redskins come back from 15 points down to take over the lead in the 4th period and go on to Victory with a 72-68 win (I think that was the final). :cool3:
All I can say is what a game, and for those that don't think this Redskin basketball team is the real deal this season....you shoulda been there! Expecting many good things from this squad this season. Excellent teamwork !

Way to go Utica !

Utica did have some outstanding guard play and their big girl is solid...Heath was hurting inside as Jocelyn Mitchell played big but had some questionable calls and had to sit a lot and Heath had to go to soph inside. The youger Croom will def be a player and gave the Dogs a nice spark with some athletic play. Heath also had a bunch of nice looks and feeds from penetrating guards but no finishes down the stretch. Megan was lights out with the baseline stepback and simply cash from the line going 17 for 17. I look for both Utica and Heath to do very good this year as they are both solid. Heath will just need some help from their other guards to take some defensive pressure off White or else you will see double and triple teaming until they start penetrating and dropping shots. Good Luck to both teams.
